Idnana was founded by Anandi Bhattacharya in January, 2018. A molecular biologist from University of Toronto Anandi had worked for both governmental and non-governmental research institutions in North America for over a decade before she gave up her lucrative academic career and shifted base to India to start Idnana (anagram of her name).
Once Anandi had moved back to India she decided to choose a profession that would help her explore ways to blend in creativity and aesthetics. Initially the process was all about handpicking silver pieces of her choice from artisans from different parts of India. Gradually when people around her started appreciating her work it motivated her to go further. Currently Idnana has an eclectic mix of both curated pieces and those designed by herself. When people enquired what made her give up academia and start Idnana her usual answer was ...''I don’t know really. It just felt like the right thing to do. So I didn’t want to spend the rest of my life regretting not having given it a shot'
Presently we are into exploring further fields around, so that designing makes further growth and growth reaches spaces still unexplored. We are more than ourselves only. We represent a greater population of womenfolk who need to be heard, seen and valued. Idnana is a family and a world in itself.
